Swimming Trust

Our Beneficiaries

Some beneficiaries are those who clearly have a particular talent that has been recognised and are seeking resources to develop further.

Others are people across the complete age range who want to become involved in a sporting event, learn a new skill, get more active, develop their physical capabilities or become a member of a social group, but lack the resources to do so.

For vulnerable young people, many projects act as a diversionary activity. Participation in aquatic sport helps focus and challenge young minds, whilst providing information and opportunities in relation to healthy lifestyles and social skills.

Developing talent

For talented young athletes and their families, the Swimming Trust provides the opportunity to develop their sport to its full potential.

The Swimming Trust is in the position to be influential in providing the support for talented athletes who otherwise might be denied the opportunity to remain involved.

With an eye on 2012, our initiatives are already supporting ahtletes that have yet to reach their full potential but who are already showing that they have the talent to challenge the rest of the world. With our help they are able to focus on developing this talent and reach their potential.

Without our support, swimming could loose some of its future medal winners.

Training and education

The importance of quality coaching and experience in swimming is often unseen. In order to have lasting benefit to swimming and swimmers, young coaches need support in order to develop skills and experience. Developing young coaches is essential for the future of swimming in the UK. The Swimming Trust aims to secure funds specifically to encourage and develop good coaching for continued success.

Individuals and groups

The Swimming Trust’s policy is that we promote swimming for all; therefore we aim to support a wide range of individuals and groups. We are mindful that programmes are considered in relation to need and prioritised accordingly. There are specific areas the Swimming Trust would like to give attention to over the next three years.

People with disabilities

Disabled beneficiaries each have individual challenges to overcome and are able to utilise the support of the Swimming Trust to that effect. The benefits of swimming are recognised as one of the best forms of therapy at one end of the scale and indeed competitive sport at the other, for those with a disability.
